"Anyway, Anyway, I'm Falling In Love With You," also known as Koishima is an anime adaptation based on the manga by Haruka Mitsui, serialized in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine in October 2020.

Set in 2020, the anime's protagonist, Mizuha Nishino's seventeenth birthday isn't exactly going the way she wanted. Worse, her parents completely forgot about it, she's struggling to get close to the senpai that she likes, and all of her school trips, including tournaments have been canceled due to the global pandemic (sounds familiar?), at the time.

Having accepted the fact that her chances of experiencing the happy youth she's been longing for are nil because of the new disease going around. All of a sudden, her childhood friend decided to ask her out. Such a turn of events!

Interestingly, the story's setting was very much in line with what happened in 2020. Humanity experienced such a dark yet uncertain period in history. Mizuha was taken aback by the global pandemic, which spoiled her dreams of a joyful youth. On top of that, she has to deal with her childhood friend who's in love with her.

Those who have read the original manga may already know how this "game of musical chairs" romance will play out but those watching this anime for the first time can easily pick up the story and relate to the characters.

The quality of the animation in Episode 1 of "Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You" is not bad. There's room for animation studio Typhoon Graphics to improve in the upcoming episodes. Some of the animations from Episode 1 looked stiff. It's hardly noticeable as soon as you are immersed in the story, and that's still a good thing.

"Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You" is quite an interesting anime. After watching Episode 1, viewers would be easily hooked and look forward to the next episode. Plus, there's no need to be a hopeless romantic to enjoy this anime.
