Movie Review: 'Argylle'
A thrilling spy comedy film that feels like a rollercoaster ride yet very fun and entertaining.
"Argylle" is an explosive spy themed movie full of energy, charm, and fun. This film is action-packed, fast paced with full of twists and turns – it feels like a rollercoaster ride – that will keep the audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish. It was very much entertaining for a movie with a rather compact runtime of roughly about an hour and a half.
The movie revolves around Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), an introverted author who enjoys writing novels about espionage. She then realizes the next book she's been working on actually mimic real-world events. Also turns out her book's main character "Argylle" reflects her past life as a double-agent named Rachel Kylle or "R. Kylle."
Henry Cavill plays the charismatic fictional Agent Argylle in Elly's novels. Though he's the star of the film, director Matthew Vaughn made sure the rest of the star-studded cast – including Alfie the cat – were given the spotlight as well.
Vaughn really did a fantastic job with the film's dazzling, high-octane action sequences, slick visuals, and a banger soundtrack. The blend of humor in "Argylle" will keep the audiences laughing throughout the movie as well.
Despite having a rather short runtime, "Argylle" has all the flair and more for an entertaining film. For sure, this won't be the last time fans will see Agent Argylle on the silver screen, as evidenced in the movie's mid-credits scene.
