Netflix and Powerhouse Animation releases the first official trailer of Castlevania: Nocturne. Based on the 1993 PC Engine game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and 1997's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the Playstation, it is the direct sequel to the original Castlevania series which aired on the streaming service in 2017.

Castlevania: Nocturne takes place after the events of Castlevania season 4, following the story of Richter, a descendant of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, who leads a new generation of Vampire Hunters during the French Revolution in 1792.

The footage shows a young Richter Belmont who witnessed the gruesome murder of his mother at the hands of a vampire. The young Belmont then seeks revenge on the vampire who vows to kill him as well. We also see a glimpse of Caribbean sorceress Annette in action, Richter's familiar "Item Crash" ability – a callback to Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, and Maria Renard in the trailer.

Written by Clive Bradley and Directed by Samuel and Adam Deats, Castlevania: Nocturne is set to premiere on September 28 on Netflix.
